O'Dea's Irish Pub
O'Dea's
Irish Pub was a dream of mine for a long time. After a trip to Ireland in 1999
and an evening at The Dingle Pub in Dingle, Ireland, the Pub became a reality.
With the help of friends and neighbors we created an almost
duplicate to the Dingle Pub in Ireland. My friends wallpapered and the local land
owner donated all the cherry to finish the bar and build the shadow boxes. The
kids of the group made the direction sign, painting it to be an exact duplicate
of the original.
Our shadow boxes are filled with gifts from guests
who want to leave a small bit of themselves and their spirit behind for future
patrons to discover. And our picture wall gets new photos often of past guests,
families and events that have been hosted here at the lodge.
I believe that it's the Pub which brings our
guests the real homey feeling that they get from staying with us. The Staff
(myself included) sing and play guitars on weekends. It's an amateur endeavor,
of course,
so guests can join right in.

One thing you will notice, especially on the
weekends, is my dad sitting in the corner having his daily pints. He will most
likely greet you and ask about your visit and your life in general. We affectionately
call him Walter after Walter Matthua in Grumpy Old Men but you might want to start
with Bill.
